Do you want to learn how to play Ice Hockey?

DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE:

Ice hockey is the fastest team sport in the world. The combination of a high skill level and speed make this game very exciting both to watch and to participate in. Players must be physically fit and alert during a game for both their safety and enjoyment. The hockey school aims to teach the student the skating moves he/she will require to freely move about on the ice, stick handling moves required for passing and shooting and drills to help the student get a feel for how the game flows.

Beginners can start from the age of 7 to adult and be male or female.

The development school has three levels:-

White Level (1)

Strong skating skills are the basis for hockey. Only when a student can skate freely can they progress to learning stick handling. For this reason, beginners spend all of their time learning and practicing skating in the white group. Equipment: Ice Skates, Gloves, Knee Guards, Elbow Guards.

Red Level (2)

Teaches the student how to stick handle and shoot the puck. The development League Co-Ordinator and coaches will asses each student during the term on their performance. Only by practicing each week between lessons will improvement be gained. Equipment: Stick, White Hockey Helmet with Cage, Leg Pads, Elbow Pads and Neck Guard.

Black Level (3)

Puts skating and stick handling together. Students are taught team drills while refining the skills learnt in white and red groups. Once a player has completed all three levels they will be placed in a team. Each Bears graduate is assured a place in a Bears Team. Equipment: Black Ice Hockey Pants, Protective Box, Shoulder Pads, Training Jersey and Socks.
