School Holidays Training Times

Just a reminder that training will not be on over the school holidays. The training schedule over the next few weeks will be:-
· Tuesday 29th June – training as normal
· Tuesday 6th July – no training – school holidays
· Tuesday 13th July – no training – school holidays
· Tuesday 20th July – training as normal
Bears Bantams - Un-defeated after 9 games

The Bears Bantams continue on their winning ways having now won 9 from 9 of
regular season games played so far!
The Team presently has players holding the top three spots in point scoring
with another three players also in the Top Ten giving the Bears 6 players in
the Top ten goal scorers in the IHNSW Bantam division. With this sort of
fire-power and great team play from all the team, no wonder they are leading
the Competition !
Dani Hogan is also settling into a permanent goal-tending position for the
Team, giving the Team stability in defence contributing towards the Teams'
outstanding competition position.
Congratulations to those Players from the Team who made the NSW State Team -
Saxon Air, Max Lorenz, Yucca Reinecke and Ryan Persson.
The Teams next games will test them with a double-header on the week-end of
3rd and 4th July vs Northstars and Blacktown after a two-week lay-off.

NSW Women 2010 National Champions! - Congratulations

The NSW Women went into this Tournament very committed and determined to make sure that the Joan McKowen Trophy stayed in NSW.
There were 3 teams in the tournament, a combined ACT/QLD/WA team, a team from VIC and NSW.
NSW went through the prelimary rounds of the tournament undefeated in their four games. They proceeded directly to the grandfinal game which they won 4 - 1 against a determined Victorian team.
Three Sydney Bears players were a part of the victorius team, Sami Lai, Elissa Deenick and Remi Harvey.
Congratulations go to the whole NSW team in achieving their goal of becoming 2010 National Champions

Kurt De Fris State Bantam Team - Congratulations to Sydney Bears players selected

Bears Bantams awesome start to 2010 season

WOW !! - What a start to the Bears Bantams season - 5 wins from 5 games :
Sunday 28/3/2010 Bears 12 defeated Emperors 1
Sunday 18/4/2010 Bears 14 defeated Eagles 3
Sunday 25/4/2010 Bears 7 defeated Norstars 1
Saturday 1/5/2010 Bears 18 defeated Rhinos 1
Sunday 9/5/2010 Bears 13 defeated Saints 5
Despite being a small team of only 9 players and with no regular Goalie requiring the sharing of Goalie duties amongst the players, this team has achieved this stunning result in their first few games and are currently leading the IHNSW Bantams competition after 5 rounds !!
All players have been firing since the opening game with rookie player - Gabe Maher, scoring his first goal in this opening game of the season. Cian has been rock solid in defence as usual with TJ perfecting his sniping at the net resulting in 3 goals and 6 assists to his credit from these first five games. Yucca Reinecke leads the points score table for the whole of the IHNSW Bantams competition with three other Bears - Saxon, Max and Ryan hot on his tail in the point scoring taking up positions 2, 3, and 4 in the point score table. Playing as a utility player regularly alternating between playing defensive and offensive position, Mackay has also contributed to both the defensive and offensive stats for the team and is also in the Top-Ten point scorers in the IHNSW Bantams competition at this stage of the season - Yes, thats right, this small team are not only the IHNSW Bantams competition leaders but also have 5 players in the Top-ten point scorers !! Backing up this amazing effort has been Dani Hogan with 3 Assists from the first 3 games. As a first-time Goal-tender, Dani has been awesome between the pipes in the last two games for the Bears and could be settling into a regular position there.
This team looks to promise big things for this season with their next test being a game against the Flyers to close-out the first round of games.

Midgets shut out Eagles. Clemie bags 6 in the win!

The Sydney Bears Midgets continued their strong start to the season with a convincing 8-0 win over the Canterbury Eagles. This was the Sydney Bears Midgets fourth win on the trot. In the impressive win attacker Scott Clemie bag 6 goals.

Under 20 Division 3 World Championships

Joel McFadden of the Sydney Bears recently represented Australia at the Under 20 Division 3 World Championships in Istanbul, Turkey. This was Joel's third occasion of representing Australia at the international level.

Sydney Bears Midget team win 2010 Heaton Cup

IHNSW (State Press) - The Canterbury Eagles Ice Hockey Club hosted another successful 2010 Heaton Trophy on Friday 2nd April. The round robin event of the year featured IHNSW teams from the PeeWee and Midget divisions.
The Midget division title was won by the Sydney Bears. They squared off against the Central Coast Rhinos in the final and skated away with a 2-1 victory in double overtime. Their march to the finals included defeating Canterbury Eagles 2-0, Norwest Emperors 2-0, and a 1-1 tie with the Liverpool Saints.
The PeeWee division title was won by hosts Canterbury Eagles and it took a shootout to claim victory over a determined Central Coast Rhinos team.
The Sydney Bears congratulates the Canterbury Eagles Ice Hockey Club on a well run tournament.
